South Coastal Health & Community Services

In the early 1990s a small group of inspirational women, led by Jan Thair, came together to establish a Women’s Health centre in Rockingham. From humble beginnings, starting with 5 part-time staff, South Coastal Health & Community Services (SCHCS) has gone from strength to strength.

SCHCS was founded as a not-for-profit women’s health centre, however as the community developed, SCHCS’s delivery platform has evolved to meet growing needs. The service has grown to provide services to thousands of women and families through a broad range of programs. Our main clientele base is still women and families who now access counselling, therapeutic & support groups and health services.

SCHCS also provides culturally secure social and emotional wellbeing services for individuals who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, through South Coastal Babbingur Mia (SCBM). SCBM offers a friendly flexible service to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community throughout Rockingham and Kwinana. The staff members work together to support women, children, new mums and men for good health and social and emotional wellbeing. This service is delivered in both an outreach setting and onsite.

Our Vision

Up and Away to Rotary WA Conference 2026

About

Up and Away for Rotary Western Australia's district conference in Northam in March 2026. Northam was the 4th Rotary Club in WA and will celebrate its 80th year in 2026.

The 2026 Rotary WA Conference will be held from 13-15 March 2026 in the heart of the picturesque Avon Valley, Northam. As we look upwards with Rotary, the Conference will combine high quality keynote speakers and presentations that are designed to motivate and educate attendees whilst encouraging them to participate through hands-on social impact activities and celebrate the successes of Rotary's rich history locally and internationally.

The Rotarians of Northam are proud and excited about welcoming you to their region and are working tirelessly to make it a huge success, as it is such a special year for them.

Opened in early 2023, the restaurant is a purpose-built training facility where hospitality and cookery students can demonstrate their skills in preparing and serving food and drinks to members of the public.

Event students also coordinate, theme, and provide menu presentation together with advertising for special events that are staged at the venue.
