Mark McGowan
Premier of WA

Mark McGowan is the 30th Premier of Western Australia. He is committed to keeping WA safe and strong.

Mark was raised in regional New South Wales. His mum was a primary school teacher and his dad a wool classer, teaching him the importance of hard work and compassion. It was these values that led him to sign up to the Royal Australian Navy, training at HMAS Creswell in regional New South Wales.

In 1988, Mark McGowan drove his Corolla hatch across the Nullabor to serve as a Lieutenant at HMAS Stirling on Garden Island.

Mark still lives in Rockingham, where he met his wife Sarah and they are raising their three children – Samuel, Alexander and Amelia.

He and Sarah want their kids to have a strong future in WA. One where everyone can get a good job and has access to high quality healthcare.

Mark McGowan is driven by public service and the desire to give back: to our Navy, to our State and to people in our community.
